I'm Jo, and I teach the things I actually do.
I run the courses because people kept asking me the same questions, and because the answers are easier to give in a room than over email. I also work with people one to one.
I've got a computer science degree and I'm a Chartered IT Professional. I spent eight years as a business analyst, which mostly means working out whether an idea is worth doing before anyone spends money on it, and then helping to get it off the ground. I'm a qualified teacher as well, so explaining things without the jargon is the part I'm actually trained in.
Everything I teach is something I do myself. I build websites and apps for my own businesses and for other people, and I use AI to do it, so nothing in the room is theory I read somewhere.
Things I've built
- Websites for local businesses, like mynyddawel.co.uk and lockstoremold.co.uk
- A meeting room booking app
- A cleaning checklist app, so my cleaner knows what's been done and what hasn't
- My own training site, hublinko.co.uk
- A game for children called Classroom Chase
- An assistant that sits on a website and answers questions about it
How I teach
Nobody sits and listens for two hours, and nobody works on a made up example. There's a short bit of teaching, then you spend most of the time on your own business while I come round. Groups are capped at ten so when you get stuck I'm there. That cap is the whole point of it.
No coding, on any of my courses. If you can type a sentence you can do everything we do in the room.
Or work with me directly
If a group isn't right for you, or you want to get through something specific quickly. At Mynydd Awel, in your own office, or online.
We have a chat
A phone call or a few lines by email about what you're hoping to get done. If somebody else would be better for it, I'll happily point you their way.
We book a session
However long the job needs rather than a fixed slot you have to fill.
session
We do the actual job
Your business, your idea, your website. You're at the keyboard and I'm next to you, so it gets done there and then rather than written down to try later.
You leave with it finished
Whatever we set out to do, done, and in a state you can carry on with yourself.
The sort of thing people bring
If yours isn't here, ask anyway.
- Coming up with business ideas, and testing whether they stand up
- A problem statement that pins down what's actually wrong
- Sorting out a process that takes too long or keeps going wrong
- A business case to put in front of a bank, a board or a partner
- A website or an app built and live
- An AI assistant that answers questions for you or your customers
- Business analysis work, so you know what's needed before anyone builds it
Have a chat first
Every job's different, so the price is too. Give me a ring or drop me a line about what you're after, and I'll let you know what it would take. No obligation either way.
